Venus Aerospace, a pioneering company based in Texas, is on the verge of revolutionizing air travel with its ambitious hypersonic jet, the Stargazer. This remarkable aircraft could potentially cut the travel time between New York City and London to under an hour — a journey that currently takes approximately seven hours.

With the Stargazer, Venus Aerospace aims to redefine the landscape of commercial aviation. This groundbreaking project could transform how we think about global connectivity, making distant cities more accessible than ever before.
Innovative Propulsion Technology
At the core of the Stargazer’s capabilities is its advanced propulsion system known as the Venus Detonation Ramjet 2,000lb Thrust Engine, or VDR2. This innovative engine combines cutting-edge technology, such as the rotating detonation rocket engine (RDRE) and ramjet design, enabling it to function seamlessly from takeoff to hypersonic speeds.
The VDR2 is designed to achieve speeds of up to Mach 6, equivalent to approximately 3,600 miles per hour, and can soar at altitudes reaching 110,000 feet. At this height, passengers will even have the chance to witness the curvature of the Earth, creating an extraordinary travel experience. Furthermore, the Stargazer is engineered for long-range flights of up to 5,000 miles.
Challenges Ahead for Hypersonic Travel
While the prospect of hypersonic travel is exhilarating, several challenges must be addressed before the Stargazer takes to the skies. The aircraft is projected to cost around $33 million, and its passenger capacity will be limited to just 12 individuals.
